Data analysis and statistics in Python
Introduction to programming in Python for master students in biology
We offer an introduction course to data analysis with Python during the spring term break (two weeks full-time in February). The course provides an introduction to programming using the computer language Python and is aimed at master students in biology, who are new to programming. In addition to programming skills you will also learn how to use Python for statistics and data analysis and to produce figures for your report or thesis. For more information please contact Bjoern Kampa.
Interdisciplinary Data Science Course
This module is for students who want to gain in-depth experience in the field of data
science for applications in Biology. The content is designed to demonstrate the general applicability of different data analysis techniques irrespective of the specific biological dataset of the scientific field. In particular, we will cover topics of:
1. working with large data sets,
2. data visualization,
3. data dimension reduction,
4. cluster analysis,
5. model fitting,
6. machine learning.
In this course, we will introduce the programming language Python for data
visualization, analysis as well as model construction and simulations. For more information please contact Bjoern Kampa or Prof. Simon Musall from the Forschungszentrum Jülich.
Our courses in the Biology Bachelor Programme:
